Long Arm MZI with Euler Bends
Multiple MMIs connected with Euler Bends simulated rigorously in 3D on a standard desktop
Long Arm MZI
Without MT-FIMMPROP, this long arm Mach Zehnder Interferometer featured in Cherchi et al [1] would rely on scripting or a circuit simulator tool (like PICWave) to connect decoupled simulations together. In MT-FIMMPROP it is simulated entirely with one tool.
Built using Euler bends to minimise losses, varies the power output of its two MMI arms based on the wavelength of the input. The device spans 600 um while still simulating on a standard desktop in seconds.
Using FIMMPROP’s built-in scanner, we can obtain the response of the device. As detailed in the publication, the response produces a flat-top in its spectrum, offering improvement on the sinusoidal response of a simple MZI design.
